We plan to run a friendly, inclusive club that is open to all E-trials bike owners
Will it be a success? Who knows but here is how it all started…
So a chance meeting at a local club round in November 2021 with an already E trials bike convert Adam Bookham. I volunteered to guide him round his first ever club trial on my petrol bike and here we are early 2022 after many hours riding, more hours chatting over ideas and accusations of madness, I present to you “ETrials Sussex”
E trials bikes round these parts were almost a novelty when I met Adam, I knew of really only one other adult bike locally. There have been many juniors on them for years, but very few adults had set both feet on one. After a few trials against him and a few short bike swaps I started to think they were a far better idea than a novelty and the seeds grew.
I’d been in contact with Inch Perfect Trials from the start as the importer for Emotion bikes in the UK and soon forged a link with them. They kindly agreed to up a demo day to push the brand locally and for me to try the 2022 model with the prospect of buying not only my first ever E trials bike but my first ever new trials bike! as I’d always brought second hand before.
That soon went into fast forward as I sit here writing this 9 days before the said demo! Through social media Adam met Micheal who also wanted a new bike! So to cut a long story short we got two delivered earlier than i’d planned and i’m very pleased I did.
Being involved in local clubs at committee level I was aware of the huge efforts and commitment from people to make it work, thankfully I / we have had plenty of it from partners, friends, AMCA and ACU and of course Inch Perfect Trials.
We thought it would be a fun idea to set up our own club, the way we think it should be for what was then a minority, with the intention of building a strong membership over time.
I’ll get back to you next year with how it went..!
